Umlazi baptisms

Unjani everyone!
So this week was awesome!  We had three baptisms in Umlazi and it went perfect.

Okay so alot has been going down as well!  So many missionaries are getting sent home because of  bad choices they are making.  You wont believe how many things are going down in my mission.  There is so much drama.  I never thought missionaries could take it to far but I guess they can.
Guys I've been out 4 months now!! wha wha.  It feels like I got here yesterday.  I still get crap for being young on mission which is very true I have a looong way to go but if this keeps up I will be home tomorrow!
Anyways I love my area it’s a jungle mountains and we have to go see people who live in the bush.  Its so so fun.  So today we got to take a nice drive right on the beach!

A couple days ago I was on exchanges with Elder dos Santos from Mozambique  and the cars clutch burned out so I had to push this car up a hill and it sucked but it was super fun.

Okay so something cool that I have noticed.
So the other morning a guy got shot 5 times in umlazi and died and then another girl we met.  Her brother killed someone and then he got killed and we met her out of nowhere right after it happened.  So what I have to say is that Jesus christ dwells even in the darkest of places.  I know that for a fact teaching in Umlazi.  Satan is trying so hard to stop this place from growing but the light always overpowers the dark and that is why so many people are being baptized!
(My interpretation of this experience he had is: Umlazi is a dangerous place. People are being shot at in the streets. They met a young girl out of no where that just lost her brother to one of these dangerous events.  They were able to possibly help her and teach her.  Even in the darkest places where we feel only evil dwells, the light of the Savior over powers the darkness and wins.  It is evident in all the baptisms that are happening).

Okay thanks for listening.  And enjoy the weather!  By the way pray for the people here because we just got hit with a massive storm!  crazy damage. and alot of people died.

It’s a jungle out there

So I went from dead Africa, to alive real quick peeps.  I moved into an apartment that is right on the beach!  I get a wonderful morning view of the ocean.  Also I am in the jungle finally!  It is so green and thick thick thick! I am very blessed to be serving in a place like this!

So I only go to Umlazi 2 days a week and were only allowed to go if we have assigned appointments to see and we have to leave by 5 pm.  So yeah it is so cool though and honestly it doesn't feel that dangerous.  I'm am literally driving on a roller coaster.  These roads go up and down not left or right.  It is so fun.  Only one car can fit so sometimes your heart pounds a little when your close to a cliff.  Ha ha I love this place!

So I mainly serve in a place called Illovo which is super safe and very Africany.  There is just huts on green mountains with a awesome view of the ocean!  It is truly a sight to see. I miss all my friends in Madadeni but I know that I'm going to meet some really cool people here.   I'm going to start taking pics with all the gogos (grandmas) and at the end of mission I'm going to make a book called the book of gogos.

So yeah we are white washing is actually kind of fun.  We have this member take us around and show us all the people we can teach and there are some powerful members.  This one guy showed us a doctor who lives on top of a mountain in a super nice house and we started teaching him so yeah.  We already have a few dinner appointments which is nice because I expected none since we are opening the area.  I guess President trusts me.

But guys don't have to much fun in the snow.  I miss that stuff. Its beginning to get very hot and humid.  I wake up every morning feeling nasty and gross.  But the ocean smell is oh so nice.

Peace and blessings and here are pics yo!!!

New Area Umlazi

Im leaving Madadeni!  Im really excited to be leaving because its getting old seeing brown grass and deserted trees everywhere.  Im going to the mountainous jungle and beach!  So yeah Im very excited.  Umlazi is very sketchy though!  It does have a ward and its the fastest growing in the mission. Makes sense that satan is trying his hardest to get us out of there.

But about my past week! It was awesome as always. We had a priesthood party and ate cow head.  Its like at every party there has to be cow head.  Never not cow head. But Im fine with it because its super nice.

Anyways sorry this weeks is short I have run out of time!
Live it up, love it down peeps.

Storms

Unjani kids.

This week it has been storming like crazy and these storms are intense!  Like you think they are just big dark clouds and then just 0 to 100 real quick. -Drake. It gets very calm and then next thing its pouring rain and lightning is striking in multiple doses and the wind is like a hurricane.  It took down some pretty thick palm trees and blew alot of houses everywhere. The lightning was amazing to watch at night.
So I'm becoming a chef.  I made some chop seuy.  However you spell that. It was incredible.  I have also made coconut rice with some crumbed prawns.  I made some amazing bread pudding.  So yeah I will be holding a party when I get home and I will be cooking everything.

This Sunday we were able to watch General Conference kind of.  We didnt watch Saturdays because no one showed up so our branch president took us to a party where we ate and danced in the rain.  But on Sunday 15 of us showed up 12 of them were kids.  But it was an amazing conference and my favorite talk was of the one guy basically going off on how it is impossible how Joseph Smith did what he did without God and how the Book of Mormon has all the truths and how they can never be dis-proven.  Hopefully I will be able to see Saturdays one of these days because I heard there was some good stuff by Holland.
The work is still pressing on and we are in week 6 now so we will see if I am staying or leaving this weekend!  I wouldnt mind leaving because I feel like something new would be nice but then staying could mean being with all the friends I've made and all the relationships I've made with the members especially our branch president!  We became like best friends and I'm gonna miss being around that crazy guy.  So it will be interesting either way!

Umlazi Approach.  haha so we had two missionaries get kidnapped in a place called Umlazi.  They are fine but they had everything stolen and they were hijacked and taken to the desert where they were dropped off and walked about 4 hours til they found a members house. They were missing for the whole day.  I think Pres. is going to close that area because sketchy stuff happens there way to often.

Anyways love all you guys and here are some pictures.
This spider is huge and I found it in my shower this morning!  Its a rain spider so its harmless but its massive and I was a scared nude boy frozen in the shower.
Love you guys!!
I heard it snowed... jealous.

Almost 3 months out!

(down here we burn skirts for our 18 month day to say we served a sister mission.)

Unjani
Into week 5 of the second transfer!  I’ve got a long way to go folks.  haha but its going bye fast!  Thank you to everyone for all the emails and support!

Whynotcrew is all around the world killing it right now and I couldn't  be more happy for what we are doing!

So sadly I havent seen conference yet.  We will be watching it as a whole city this weekend and I'm pretty excited for it!  It will be nice to take a break for a day.

Fun story:
We went to this guys house named Temba Inkosi and he used to be a powerful member but soon turned into a stotsi.  (wanna be gang man). He was pretty drunk and and kept saying to my companion that he was sent from God because his name is Elder Bir but you literally pronounce Bir as (beer). So yeah the guy was super stoked.  Anyways we went into his house and he said we dont open bibles in this house and then he said he would open with a prayer.  After the prayer we mentioned the Book of Mormon and he told us his favorite story was when Nephi cuts off Labans head.  He then followed with this statement "I love murder." So we chuckled but in our heads it was like the Saratov Approach going down.  Anyways he pulled out the Bible and turned to a random page he then forced us to read with him the entire chapter and before we could add any comments he slapped my leg and said Tendaza (pray) So I prayed and then he showed us some cow hoofs he had in his back yard which were just some legs cut off a cow.  And said he was going to cook for us.  He then checked our pockets for money and we did this circle thing where we put our fists together and we bowed our heads and then said bye.  This is pretty common but its just so weird and people are incredible funny when they are drunk talking to men of God.  They call us Jesus and ask us for money.
But on the other hand everything is amazing and I couldnt be having more fun.  Still on the search for a skateboard.
Love you all.

Peace and Blessings
